The nominations for the 2011 Oscars was announced today and apparently Philippines’ entry for ‘Noy’ did not make it into the best foreign language category, but the good news is that rising Fil-Am Hollywood star Hailee Steinfield got nominated for best actress. I recently found out that Steinfield had some Filipino blood from her mother’s side of the family from Stephen Dypiangco of Home Unknown as well as others who have sent me articles on the Tru Grit star. Hailee Steinfield, the 14-year-old True Grit actress, is nominated for her performance as Mattie Ross in the Coen brothers’ remake of the 1969 movie. Her powerful performance as the daughter of a murdered man set out to find the killer has made her a big name in Hollywood. The 2011 Oscars will be held on February 27, 2011 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. James Franco and Anne Hathaway will be co-hosting the ceremony. It will be the first time hosting for both of the stars. The ceremony, now in its 83rd year, will be shown on ABC at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT.
