In the past year, I was able to network and build friendships with Baybayin artists. Now one of these Baybayin artists needs all our help. Suku, New Sun Artistry’s Christine Balza will be launching her very first art show in January 2011. Balza’s work has been published online and in print in the Tayo Literary Magazine September 2010 issue. She is also  featured in a documentary film on Baybayin Script in 2011. January 2011 I will be launching my first Art Show at Linen Life Art Gallery located at 770 E. 14th Street, San Leandro featuring Filipino Inspired art and other new works.

About the Project – Ancestors Revived: Baybayin Inspired Art

Despite centuries of being hidden, the mysteries of the island are being revealed by artist, Christine Balza. Launching her art at Linen Life Gallery. January 23rd 2011, Darrell Frances Robinson has kindly sponsored artist, Christine Balza in her first art show in San Leandro, CA.

I am deeply connected to Baybayin Script, an ancient writing system which has not been actively used since the 1800′s. My efforts have been rewarded in unexpected blessings. Thanks to “Linen Life Gallery” I have the opportunity to bring my visions to life.

I have the space, the time, the inspiration and the purpose. I need supplies to make it happen. My goal is to express lost aspects of the Pinoy culture.

Project #1
Bamboo sculpture, mimicing the path our ancestors used to pass their messages on to their “kababayin” or neighboring towns.
SUPPLIES: 15-20 bamboo poles of various diameter(2″-5″) at least 5′ tall,
(3)planter boxes and florist form for support and paint.

My goal is to visually awaken the island essences in our modern Fil Am lives.
