Fox’s hit television phenomenon Glee has a history of spreading the Filipino love. First, the club’s signature song “Don’t Stop Believing” was originally sang by Journey, which is now being led by Arnel Pineda.
The second surprise was underlying in the background. During the much anticipated, Joss Whedon directed with Neil Patrick Harris guest starring episode, Filipino fast food chain Jollibee made a cameo during Artie’s (Kevin Hale) “Safety Dance” flash mob dream sequence. Plus, if you can find the making of the episode behind the scenes video, another Filipino chain, Chow King, was also in the same mall!
But now, Filipinos will be seeing one of their own in front of the camera during the second season; the Internet singing sensation Charice will be joining the cast, according to Manila Bulletin. Entertainment Weekly predicts her character will be an exchange student who will challenge Rachel (Lea Michele) vocally.
If she is a foreign exchange student, will this mean we may hear some of her own penned Tagalog songs? We shall see when the show returns with new episodes this fall!
