(FAHSI), a community based non-profit organization dedicated to improving the social conditions and enhancing the self-reliance of the Filipino and Filipino American communities of New York City. The Filipino American Human Services, Inc. (FAHSI) invites you to apply to the FAHSI College Scholarship Program (FCSP). Established in 2008, the program encourages youth of Filipino descent to pursue higher education and to have a positive impact in the Filipino Community.
FAHSI will award the Frederick and Demi Seguritan Scholarship to one Filipino/Filipino-American graduating high school senior who demonstrates a passion for service to the Filipino American community and interest in business. While enrolled in college, the scholarship recipient will receive $20,000 over the course of four years. In addition, during the student’s matriculation at a college, the recipient will have the opportunity to receive mentoring from Frederick and Demi Seguritan and FAHSI Staff.
To be eligible, you must demonstrate that you:
- Are of Filipino Heritage (please inquire about definition);
Reside in the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State Area;- Are in good current academic standing at your high school;
- Have applied for admission to a four-year college as a full-time student;
- Have a passion for business (you are not required to major in business);
- Are active in the Filipino Community (i.e. participation in FAHSI’s youth program or a high school’s Filipino student club);
- Can demonstrate financial need.
To apply, please complete the attached FCSP Application and provide supporting materials, which include an essay, two letters of recommendation, a resume, a copy of your official high school transcript, SAT scores, and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a written explanation if you are unable to obtain the FAFSA.
