Just got word from Kate Agathon at Purdue University on more ImaginAsian updates. This is just a reminder that the exhibit is going to run from April 2-May 9, 2010 at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation located at 638 North Street in Lafayette, IN. Opening reception is April 9, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibit is comprised of 66 pieces of work donated by 60 contributors from 13 states. ImaginAsian is going to feature some heavy hitters from the Asian American community including Angry Asian Man, Far East Movement, Lac Su, Jef Castro, Keiko Agena, Judy Chu, and many more
In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 2010, ImaginAsian is a collection of cultural artifacts intended to raise awareness and understanding of the contemporary Asian Pacific American community as articulated through a variety of art including photography, visual and literary.
Sponsored by the Asian American Network of Indiana, the exhibit is comprised of sixty-six pieces of work donated by sixty contributors from 13 states including writer Lac Su, artist and author Kip Fulbeck, civil rights activist Yuri Kochiyama, director Michael Kang, Senator Daniel Inouye, G.I. Joe creator Larry Hama, and other stakeholders in the Asian American community.
The exhibit runs April 2-May 9, 2010 at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation located at 638 North Street in Lafayette, IN. Opening reception is April 9, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Beginning April 9, 2010, thirty-eight pieces of additional art by the contributors will be available online for auction throughout the exhibit. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of Asian American Studies materials for the Purdue University Libraries. More information to follow.
