“Maligayang Pasko!”

This Baybayin Christmas Card design featuring Magellan is from The Bathala Project in one of Cyph’s most recent post. The Christmas Card shows poor old Magellan, finding a lump of naughty coal in his Christmas stocking. Above him reads “Maligayang Pasko!” which is Merry Christmas! in Tagalog, written in Baybayin (Nordenx’s Baybayin Round font). This post from TheBathalaProject.com also got me to think on how fortunate I was to be raised in a Filipino household, where my family was always happy and optimistic of the future even when times were tough because we were all together for the holidays.  I know this year was not an easy one for many especially with the economy in the U.S. and many people losing their jobs.  However, I agree with what David Lazaro (CYPH) has to say about Christmas: “For some, Christmas is the worse time of the year because it reminds them of what they don’t have, much like Valentines is the worse for some because it reminds them of WHO they don’t have. But stay strong, my brothers and sisters. You don’t have to have a happy holiday just to be HAPPY. You’re alive and breathing, and hopefully eating. I see you and I’m with you.”

I’ll see all of you on my next post on January 2010 as I will be taking a break from updating Fil-Am Ako.  So I’d like to say again Maligayang Pasko sa inyo lahat (Merry Christmas to you all) and have a prosperous New Year!
