Loyola University Chicago’s Filipino organization, Kapwa will be inviting Dr. Kevin Nadal who is the author of Filipino American Psychology on Wednesday, December 2nd. Kevin Nadal is a professor, psychologist, performer, activist, and author, who received his doctorate in counseling psychology from Columbia University. As an assistant professor of psychology and mental health counseling at John Jay College of Criminal Justice City University of New York, he has published several works focusing on Filipino American, ethnic minority, and LGBTQ issues in the fields of psychology and education. This event hosted by Loyola Kapwa will focus on Dr. Nadal’s journey through the Filipino/LGBTQ experience in a keynote speech followed by a Q&A. So if you’re in Chicago, please attend and show your support for Filipinos trying to make a difference.

Here’s the update on our December 2nd event. It will all be focused on Kevin. He will have an hour for a keynote speech about how he became an activist in the LGBTQA community, how he defines himself in that role as a Filipino-American, and what his contributions are towards the community and it’s impact on him, as well as how he thinks we can get more involved as a minority in supporting the LGBTQA community. There will be 30 minutes for Q&A, and 30 minutes after that for mingling. Also, there will be finger-food provided
