This damn song has been stuck in my head for the past month after tuning into GMA Kapuso for my Philippine news updates from 24 Oras. Rosalinda is another Philippine remake but this time it’s from a Mexican telenovela of the same name. While watching this same exact music video on GMA, I felt that I was watching a Mexican telenovela rather than a Pinoy adaptation. Also, if I was not familiar with Philippine entertainment I could’ve easily mistaken the leads for Spanish or Mexican actors who are usually light skinned (mestizos/mestizas). If you are going to do a remake of something overseas make sure that you can make it your own like what Martin Scorsese did for the Departed (I hated that movie, it was a remake of my favorite HK film). Anyways, The song “Ay Amor” is sung by La Diva, the same trio who sang “Lupang Hinirang” at Manny Pacquiao’s fight on November 14th.
