I recently got in contact with Air Tabigue thanks to Kevin Nadal. Fil-Am comedian Air Tabigue is one of the 6 Fil-Am comedians who will be featured on Laughs for Literacy. The following is a blurb from Air Tabigue on why Laughs for Literacy is an important event and for those of you in New York, you are not going to want to miss this opportunity to see six talented Filipino comedians. Also, the events goal is for two great causes which Air explains more in detail in his blurb.
From Air Tabigue:
“Laughs for Literacy started when I approached Bagong Kulturang Pinoy New York, an organization which main goal is to promote literacy and helping children in the Philippines acquire good reading skills and proficiency in the English language. They had an event in the past called Lyrics for Literacy (which involved talented musical acts and more). So I proposed to them a show with all Comedy acts. They were all for it. So I gathered some of the funniest guys I worked with in the comedy business including Kevin Nadal, Pete Isip, Kevin Camia, Jamaal Sedayao and Regie Cabico. The event was planned months ahead and then the typhoon happened in the Philippines and we knew we had to do something to help. So along with book donations, we decided that the profits we raise for the show will be used to help the flood victims in the Philippines as well. There will also be a raffle at the show too.
So far the coverage for the show has been great and reservations for the show has been pouring in. All the comedy acts on the show are hysterical with credits including HBO, NBC, FOX and Comedy Central. People coming are in for a real treat! I think everyone will enjoy the show and at the same time helping our people back home.”
