Fil-Ams in Entertainment: DWTS & Fame

For those of you moviegoers out there wanting to check out the latest film over the weekend, check out Fame, the remake of the 1980 musical, which centered on the students of the New York Academy of Performing Arts. In the film, Fil-Am actress Anna Maria Perez de Tagle (that is one long name) is an aspiring performer by the name of Joy who is one of the students attending the New York City High School for the Performing Arts, (Known today as Fiorello H. Laguardia H.S.) students get specialized training that often leads to success as actors, singers, etc. Anna Maria Perez de Tagle’s credits include Camp Rock and a guest appearances on Hannah Montana. Also, is it me or does this Fil-Am actress bear a striking resemblance to Lea Salonga? Be sure to catch Fame this weekend and you can view the first five minutes here.

Fil-Am Contestants dominate on DWTS

If any of you missed the three-night premier of Dancing with the Stars on September 21, then the videos provided above will definitely make you want to catch this season of DWTS. Fil-Am contestants Mark Dacascos and Natalie Coughlin showed great potential in their performances in Cha Cha and Salsa. For Cheryle Burke and her partner former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay received one of the lowest scores of the week. As a side note a lot of people think that Dacascos’s performance was stereotypical and some were offended with the use of Kung Fu Fighting. However, I feel differently because it shows his strengths as a martial artist and there isn’t really any martial arts song that you can dance the Cha Cha to.
