Filipino Mass in Memory of President Aquino

This past weekend, Fil-Am Ako’s contributing editor Atty. Kristine Tungol Cabagnot attended a Filipino Monthly Mass in loving memory of President Aquino. So a big shout-out to Kristine for providing us with a blurb and photos courtesy of Donald Cabagnot to recap the event.

Kababayans gather in loving memory of their fearless leader, President Corazon Aquino

The Filipino Ministry of Northern Virginia dedicated this past September 19, 2009, monthly Filipino mass in loving memory of the late Former President Corazon Aquino. Filipino Americans came from all parts of the Metro D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia area to honor and say their farewell to a fearless leader, fighter, artist, mother, prayer and democracy icon.

Virna Lisa Mananzan sings a rousing rendition of her famous song, “Magkaisa,” which was
the battle cry for many Filipinos in the 1986 People’s Power revolution.

The church-goers were also treated to a special mini concert by recording artist Virna Lisa Mananzan, whose song, Magkaisa (Unity) served as a rallying cry for the People’s Power 1986 revolt and leading to the days of Aquino’s presidency.
