UPDATE FROM FILAMFEST:
FilAmFest is a Filipino-American Arts and Culture Festival. It is the largest intergenerational arts and culture event in the County of San Diego.
It will celebrate its fifth year on October 3rd, 2009 at Paradise Valley road between Woodman Street and Gilmartin Avenue, from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
FilAmFest drew over 12,000 people from all over Southern California in 2008.
“Honoring the Past, Building the Future.” The theme of this year reminds us to recognize and remember our history as Filipinos and Filipino-Americans and using that knowledge to shape a pathway to a better and brighter future.
The Goals of FilAmFest are:
* to foster a sense of community and enhance pride in the Filipino cultural heritage;
* to build intergenerational collaboration and cultural understanding among children, youth, adults and seniors;
* to promote effective networking among individuals and various groups representing businesses, civic organizations, local government, educational institutions and public agencies; and
* to revitalize the Paradise Hills community as a place to raise families, operate businesses and collaborate with diverse peoples, groups, and institutions.
